Welcome to Wellington (Telford) Swimming Club
We are a competitive swimming club based at Wellington Leisure Centre in Telford, Shropshire. The Club takes great pride not only in the standard of teaching and coaching it provides but also on the friendly and approachable atmosphere created by its members and volunteers.
The Club welcomes swimmers from the age of five who are able to swim 25 meters. These youngsters progress through our teaching classes before being encouraged to compete at our own Club Championships and other junior competitions. Our dedicated and experienced teaching and coaching staff routinely produce swimmers who compete at County, District and National Level. The Club currently takes part in the Nuneaton Diddy and DEVA League as well as several other inter-club and open meet galas. At the other end of the scale, the Club also maintains a strong Masters element that regularly train and compete alongside our younger swimmers.
Most of the Club’s sessions take place at Wellington Leisure Centre and together with our two evening’s sessions at Wrekin College, our swimmers are now able to train five days a week.
The Club is affiliated to the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), Midland District.

We are delighted to advise you that one of our former swimmers, Mr Charles (Charlie) Turner, has kindly agreed to hold a master class for our swimmers. Charles has been swimming for the British Gas Swimming Team at various international events and has obtained a Silver medal for his 50m FS with a time of 22.66 sec at the British World Championship Trials in Sheffield in March 09. Having commenced his early swimming career with Wellington Swimming Club, he has been part of various club to further his career over the years. Indeed, his parents are still swimming members with the Club today.
Charles presently swims with Ealing and has been selected as part of the London Region Team to compete at the Geneva Open Meet start of this year. Despite his busy schedule, he has taken a little time out to give our budding competition swimmers the benefit of his experience. He will be talking about this training schedule, nutrition, events he has attended, tips on starts and turns and sprints - after the initial talk, there will be a session in the pool also. There will be an opportunity to having your photo taken with Charles.
Date: 24th January 2010
Time: 5pm - 7pm approx.
Venue: Wrekin Pool
Attendance is limited and by invitation only - for further details or queries, please contact Ellie Mays. |

Due the growing popularity of our water polo sessions, we are delighted to inform you of an increase our sessions. To enable our younger players to benefit from more dedicated coaching in smaller groups and therefore picking up the basics and techniques of the game more easily, we are introducing a change to our session times with effect of 6th February 2010.

6 - 6.40pm - Junior players only (under 12's and beginners)
6.30 - 7.30pm - Senior players - team practise (over 12 and experienced players only)
Payment for these sessions remains unchanged at only £10 per calendar month (based on 46 weeks provision of coaching).
All players MUST be members of an ASA registered club and/or be a member of Wellington Swimming Club (Dual membership minimum requirement) - for insurance purposes.
We offer a free trial session free of charge - please contact us for details. |

Sainsbury's are launching a new campaign for Active Kids Vouchers commencing on 17th February to 8th July. Clubs are able to redeem the vouchers against new equipment and Wellington Swimming Club have been invited to join the scheme. A collection box will be on our welcome desk and you are also able to leave the vouchers in our postbox next to the notice board at Wellington Swimming Pool.
So get collecting and ask all your friends and members in your family to collect the vouchers for you. Hopefully, we will have lots of new equipment for our swimmers to enjoy courtesy of Sainsbury's and all those that collect the vouchers for the club. |
