Stages are defined by the revised NPTS (National Plan for Teaching Swimming) if you are unsure of your child's NPTS STAGE then please ask a member of the coaching staff, who shall be happy to help. All stages are shown as "working towards" therefore a in Stage 6 means that swimmers in this session are Stage 5 working towards Stage 6.

Session hours stated include setup of pool lanes, program discussion with swimmers and general explanations required to deliver appropriate training and coaching to the swimmers. Swimmers should stay for the duration of the complete session to allow adequate cool down time. Leaving sessions early needs to be agreed with the relevant coach/teacher prior to the session commencing.

Friday "Starts and Turns" at Wellington is to educate swimmers on the correct turning techniques for all strokes and relay handovers and to achieve a recognised standard for safety starting a race from blocks. (Swimmers cannot start a race from starting blocks until they have achieved the required standard). 45 min session for Stage 1 (7-7.45pm) and Stage 2 (7.45-8.30pm) of Competivie Start Award. Session can be attended by coaches invitation only, subject to spaces on the waiting list..
