After long discussion, we are making changes to the sunday session. The session was originally introduced to replace the 1.5 hour session held at Wellington pool in the morning, however, due to low attendance, the session was moved to Wrekin College. For staffing reasons, we are now merging the sessions offered and the session will run from 5-6.30pm. Due to the merging of the sessions, we cannot guarantee a designated lane for the Masters. This change will apply with effect of 9th May.
Masters are invited to use the available slot from 6.30-7.30pm until 6th June (commencement of Synchronised Swimming). For any queries, please speak to Simon Little. Anyone wishing to volunteer to assist our now very stretched coaching team, is more than welcome.
Swimmers are requested to increase their training by making use of the other sessions available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The club is introducing Synchronised Swimming and the sessions will be run by Zoe Cooper and Sarah Jones who are both fully qualified level 2 Synchronised Swimming Coaches. Both Zoe and Sarah are still actively competing themselves and have won several medals.
The session is available to Wellington Swimming club members only and swimmers will have to pass an assessment in respect of ability prior to being allowed to join the session. Session are running at Wrekin College Pool on Sundays from 6.30 - 7.30pm starting 6th June.
This session is NOT suitable for any swimmer training at Stage 8 and below! The commencement date and full details will follow shortly. |

Well done to all of our swimmers that entered the County Championships this year, there were some exceptional performances and even a few Midland qualifying times achieved. Below is the list down to 6th place, all times are now in the pb database, you can check those in the members area. It was fantastic to see our younger swimmers doing so well.

We were very fortunate to have had a visit from one of our former swimmers and now Olympic hopefuls to offer some guidance on competitive swimming at a recent master class in Telford. Charles Turner who presently is the third fastest British short distance swimmer (Frontcrawl) not only gave our members some tips, but also joined them in the pool as well.

The session was extremely well received and the young swimmers were delighted to have been able to spend some time with Charles - needless to say that some requested his autograph after the session. The club would like to express their extreme gratitute to Charlie for giving up his very limited free time to assist some younger swimmers to understand the demands and joys of competitive swimming.
Although swimmers like Charles receive some funding, it is limited to training and travel to events only - despite being part of the International competition team (British Gas) representing Britain, he still has to find sponsors to enable him to meet day to day living expenses. So if any companies are out there wishing to support a young and promising Olympic hopeful for 2012, then now is their chance to have their name associated and promoted by him from an early stage, before sums reach Rebecca Adlington levels - did we mention he is extremely photogenic?

Membership Renewal
Sorry folks but it’s that time of year again. We need all renewals in by 28th Feb, if we have not received your renewal you or your child WILL NOT be permitted to swim as they will not be covered by the clubs insurance policy (even if you have a standing order in force)
A big thank you to those of you that have already returned your renewal, it makes life on the administration side that much easier as we are not rushing to try and get them in to the asa (the club get fined if we are late with our submission).
If you have not yet received a renewal form email
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
and we will get one sent to you.
Many thanks
Carl

Due the growing popularity of our water polo sessions, we are delighted to inform you of an increase our sessions. To enable our younger players to benefit from more dedicated coaching in smaller groups and therefore picking up the basics and techniques of the game more easily, we are introducing a change to our session times with effect of 6th February 2010.
The new sessions are (still on Saturdays at Wellington Swimming Pool):
6 - 6.40pm - Junior players only (under 12's and beginners)
6.30 - 7.30pm - Senior players - team practise (over 12 and experienced players only)
Payment for these sessions remains unchanged at only £10 per calendar month (based on 46 weeks provision of coaching).
All players MUST be members of an ASA registered club and/or be a member of Wellington Swimming Club (Dual membership minimum requirement) - for insurance purposes.
We offer a free trial session free of charge - please contact us for details. |
